It's time to get raw

Dubbed the High Priestess of Raw Food, Karyn Calabrese has taught the healthy raw lifestyle for 38 years.
And now she wants to help you start the year off in healthy style with her next four-week, detox class starting on Wednesday, Jan. 9 at Karyn's Corner (1901 N. Halsted St., 312-255-1590).
Here are the details: This four-week detoxification program is for everyone looking for a new level of health. It focuses on helping to restore the body's balance and natural restorative rejuvenation process. The program will show you step by step how to detoxify with powerful tools like nutrition and holistic therapies. The class meets once a week for four weeks, and each class is two hours long. Dates: Jan. 9, 16, 23 and 30. Time: 8am-10am, or 7pm-9pm. $250 per person ($50 non-refundable deposit required); $125 for detox class alumni. To sign up, call 312-255-1590.
RL closed for renovations
If you tried to drop by RL (115 E. Chicago Ave., 312-475-1100)—fashion designer Ralph Lauren's splendid steakhouse right off the Mag Mile—over the weekend, you were probably disappointed because they were closed.
No need to worry. They'll be back in business Wednesday, Jan. 9 following some well-needed renovations. Since they first opened almost 10 years ago, diners have put some serious wear and tear on the interior, so they're upgrading the banquettes, floors and other furniture. They'll probably make a few minor tweaks to the menu as well.
