Hold on to your seats, people.

GrubStreet reports the Beard Awards has added a Best TV Food Personality category this year.

They'll announce nominees when finalists for the other categories are unveiled March 22 (winner will then be announced at the Book & Media Awards on Sunday, May 2).

We're wondering if hometown hero Rick Bayless (Frontera Grill/Topolobampo/Xoco) will be one of the nominees.

After all, his PBS show, "Mexico: One Plate at a Time," has been on the air for six seasons, and he was named the first-ever "Top Chef Master."

We'll see what happens!

And speaking of the "Top Chef" franchise, Bravo just announced the "Top Chef: The Tour" dates.

It kicks off on April 14 in St. Louis, Mo., but they haven't released the Chicago date yet.

Booooooooo!

  1. Seems unlikely to me - I'm guessing the "TV Personality" thing is so the Beards can ratchet up their currency with folks like Padma and Alton, who otherwise don't qualify for the culinary awards.
