From Farm to Fab Feasts . . .
The outdoor Green City Market continues through October in Lincoln Park, but you've only got one day to take advantage of the Farmers Market in the Sky on the Terrace at Trump Hotel.
Happening 7-11am Thursday, the event is orchestrated by Sixteen Executive Chef Frank Brunacci, who will showcase a number of products sourced from local farms and purveyors.
The free farmers market includes cheese and butter from Nordic Creamery; handmade truffles from Katherine Anne Confections; a number of goodies from Nichols Farms; seasonal preserves from Rare Bird Preserves; beef and pork products from Slagel Farm; sausages from Mint Creek Farm; stone fruit and smoothies from Seedling Farms; maple syrup from Burton's Maplewood Farm and others.

What's also awesome about this event is that Brunacci's doing a "farm-to-table" breakfast buffet in Sixteen featuring produce from the participating farmers. It also happens 7-11am Thursday, and is $35 per person.
You'll have another chance to check out some of these amazing purveyors during a Harvest Brunch 11am-2:30pm Sunday. Diners can feast on traditional eggs Benedict made with Slagel Farm fresh eggs; breakfast sausages from Mint Creek Farms; Slagel Farm's pork belly cured with Seedling Farm's slow-roasted cider; and seasonal veggies from Nichol's Farms.
That's $65 for adults; $25 for kids 10 and under.
I recently made a trip to Chicago (from Arizona, my home town) to visit my cousin who lives by Lincoln Park. We visited this farmers market and I have to say that I was quite impressed. I also visited a farmers market in Alabama this summer and thought that the Green City Market blew it out of the water! They had so many foods for you to sample, where in Alabama they mostly just had cheese. I was most impressed with the fresh grown fruits from Seedling Farms that they blended into a fantastic smoothie for my cousin and I. I was most impressed with this little farmers market and would recommend that people hurry and visit it before it's too late!
