Chicago Michelin Stars 'Leaked' By Mistake?!

A member of the social networking, user review and local search web site Yelp is claiming to have the scoop on the Michelin stars that will be awarded to Chicago's top restaurants on Wednesday when the guide is released:

According to the post, only Alinea and L2O were awarded the coveted three stars. Avenues, Charlie Trotter's and Ria received two stars.

Here's what the "Yelper" is saying is the entire list:

***
Alinea
L20

**
Avenues
Charlie Trotters
Ria

*
Blackbird
Boka
Bonsoiree
Crofton on Wells
Everest
Graham Elliot
Longman & Eagle
Naha
NoMI
Schwa
Seasons
Sepia
Sixteen
Spiaggia
Takashi
Topolobampo
Tru
Vie

See the post right here.

It may be entirely possible that the information leaked if guides were mailed out early by mistake.

Also, WHERE are avec and Cafe des Architectes? They were not on the Bib Gourmand list.

UPDATE: Michelin just announced that it is moving the official announcement up 24 hours, which is Tuesday morning. Just got a confirmation from one of the chefs!

  2. Whether or not this list is for real (if I was faking one it would be very similar), I wonder if Avec will turn out to have been closed during the time they were making final judgments.

  3. @Stat: Thanks for the list!

@Michael: Someone else brought up that exact point, so one wonders if avec made it in the book at all . . .

  4. This was linked from Grant Achatz's FB page. Just thought that was pretty cool. I am a follower now. Stop by Chizakaya Japanese Pub. I bartend over there. Take care.

  5. I'm also surprised that avec didn't make the list. I thought for sure they were getting a star since they didn't get a bib. Avec was only closed for 11 weeks out of the many years they've been open. One would hope that Michelin has been sending out inspectors for more than the last two months or so. I'd see it as a pretty grand injustice since avec, in my opinion, deserved at least a bib, if not a star.

  6. NO restaurants in the suburbs on either the Bib Gourmand or stars list? Is that typical for Michelin?

  7. If this is true, Hot Doug's was robbed!

I'm kidding--somewhat, because I do love Hot Doug's. Awarding a star to a hot dog stand (no matter how totally awesome it is) would be a bit of a stretch.

  8. @Ed B: Vie is allegedly getting * on the list.

in the stew, phil vettel said that jean-luc naret estimated that his reviewers didn't tavel more than 20 miles outside the city center to review.

and fyi- a quick google search estimates chicago to western springs is 20.4 miles.
