Dinner Pays Tribute To 'Women of Rock'

Peek your head inside any restaurant kitchen around town, and you'll be surprised to discover that what they're listening to is far more interesting than what we're hearing out in the dining room.

That's what inspired Blue 13 executive chef/owner Chris Curren to launch the Rock 'n' Roll Dinner Series in 2009. The five-course dinners are inspired by a band or theme, and each dish takes its cue from a designated song from the playlist.

The first event happens 7:30-10pm May 4, and it's a tribute to Women of Rock. The featured artists are not your typical fare (You won't see Lady Gaga, Britney Spears or Rhianna on this playlist), including The Sounds, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Garbage, Veruca Salt and Chicago's own Liz Phair.

Dinner's $50 per person, and an extra $15 if you request wine pairings. Each event begins with a cocktail reception.

The Rock 'n' Roll Dinner Series occur every first Wednesday of the month through August and reservations are strongly recommended.
