Sola Goes All Out To Help Employee in Need

Jason Skorup—a friendly, yet towering presence known for charming guests at sola—has fallen on hard times due to an illness that's left him with mounting medical bills.
And while he's moved back to his native San Diego, his colleagues at the delightful North Center restaurant have not forgotten about him. Owner/chef Carol Wallack has come up with two ways to help him by creating a cocktail in Skorup's honor as well as a fundraiser.
Sola's "drink of the month" is the PBJ (Plum, Bulleit, Jason), and a portion of sales from the cocktail will go toward his bills. It's made with plum-ginger syrup, Bulleit bourbon, ginger ale and ice served in a tall, skinny glass. Nice and refreshing for summer as you chill out on the sidewalk patio.
Store Up For Skorup, is the benefit planned at 5:30pm June 26, immediately following the annual North Center Garden Walk. That event includes patio grilling, seasonal cocktails and a kissing booth (!!!).
It's free to attend, so they're raising $$$ with a silent auction. A number of local restaurants have generously given gift certificates, including the likes of naha, Lula Cafe, Girl and the Goat, The Publican, Purple Pig, Sunda and Urban Belly.
Additionally, one lucky guest will have the chance to bid on a dinner for eight featuring wine pairings and cuisine by Wallack and chef Dale Levitski (Sprout).
