It’s Time For Another Female ‘Top Chef’

If you combine all the Top Chef franchises—Top Chef, Top Chef Masters, Top Chef Just Desserts and Top Chef All-Stars—that's almost totaling 15 seasons of the popular culinary competition.
But all those seasons have managed to result in only one female Top Chef winner, which, of course, is Girl & The Goat's Stephanie Izard.
That's just crazy!
As the second season of Top Chef Just Desserts is off to an exciting start, there appears to be hope, as a top-notch lineup of pastry chefs include a number of confident women. And even though the first contestant to be eliminated was one of the girls (albeit a clueless one who made a "cake" house instead of gingerbread during a "Hansel & Gretel" themed challenge), Chicago's own Amanda Rockman of The Bristol won both team challenges on the first episode.
We're keeping our fingers crossed that this fearless young chef will make it to the finish line.
We're also hoping the rumors are true that Sable Kitchen & Bar's Executive Chef Heather Terhune will compete on Top Chef Texas.
The top toque, who was previously the longtime exec chef at Atwood Cafe, is a whimsical, creative genius as far as I'm concerned. She's also one of the most underrated culinary stars in the city, offering a brunch menu with decadent dishes like Mascarpone Stuffed Brioche French Toast and Moroccan-spiced lamb burger.
So I'm really hoping that rumor pans out . . .
