We're not even a week into the New Year, and yet another prominent Chicago restaurant announced a closing.
Wednesday afternoon one sixtyblue dropped the bomb that its last day of service will be Saturday:
"After 14 successful years, acclaimed West Loop restaurant, one sixtyblue, announces plans to re-concept in 2012. Its final dinner service as one sixtyblue will be on Saturday, January 7. With an ever-evolving local culinary scene, and the re-emergence of Randolph St. as a major dining hub in Chicago, Michael Jordan and his partners at Cornerstone Restaurant Group – who opened Michael Jordan’s Steak House Chicago last August to much critical praise – will introduce a fresh concept in one sixtyblue’s space in late spring.
"'one sixtyblue had an amazing run, and moving on is bittersweet,' said David Zadikoff, CEO, Cornerstone Restaurant Group. 'Thanks to our loyal patrons and the West Loop community for 14 wonderful years. We are looking forward to a new chapter and are excited to announce our plans for the year ahead.'"
First Charlie Trotter's announced the closing of his iconic restaurant, now this.
Wow.
