Do This: Four Fab Foodie Fetes

Here are a few heavy-hitter chef events coming up. The best part is that there's something for every budget—from $25 to $250—and you'll go home feeling satisfied:
BBQ Beasts & Blues. Three Aces' Matt Troost has gathered some of his culinary cohorts for an event to support MEMA-Music, a nonprofit organization motivating youth through music.
Who's Involved: Each chef [Troost, Mark Steuer (The Bedford), Chris Curren (Stout Barrel House & Galley), John Manion (La Sirena Clandestina)] will prepare a whole animal (think whole pig, lamb, fowl and/or goat) with accompanying side dishes. Bonus: Live music from Chicago blues artists Mississippi Gabe Carter, Matt Hendrix and Dave Herrero.
When & Where: 4-10pm Sunday, July 22 at Three Aces.

Chefs and the City. Targeting a fashion-forward foodie crowd, this eighth-annual party benefits Vital Bridges, which helps people impacted by HIV/AIDS in Chicago. Bonus: The live auction includes a trip to Italy with round-trip airfare for two to Rome, two nights at the exquisite La Foce estate in Tuscany, and food and wine experiences across the country.
Who's Involved: A number of notables, including the likes of Shawn McClain (Green Zebra), Paul Virant (Perennial Virant/Vie), Tony Priolo (Piccolo Sogno), Ryan Pitts (RL), Heather Terhune (Sable Kitchen & Bar) and Dale Levitski (Sprout/Frog & Snail).
When & Where: 7:30-9:30 Friday, July 27 (dance party starts at 9:30pm) at the Ritz-Carlton Chicago Grand Ballroom (160 E. Pearson St.).

Rockin' Lobster Bash. Supreme Lobster throws this party to celebrate the 40th anniversary of indie rock station WXRT-FM.
Who's Involved: If you love the decadent crustacean, this is where you need to be because the toques will be hooking up signature lobster dishes. Participating are chefs Troy Graves (Red Door), Jason Vincent (Nightwood), Mark Steuer (The Bedford), Mindy Segal (Hot Chocolate), Mike Sheerin and Patrick Sheerin (The Trenchermen), Ryan Poli and Greg Bastien (Tavernita), Paul Fehribach (Big Jones) and Dirk Flanigan (The Gage/Henri). Bonus: Legendary WXRT announcer Lin Brehmer hosts; an open bar of Amstel Light as well as Templeton whiskey, Altos Olmeca tequila and Death's Door cocktails.

Taste of the Nation. More than 60 highly regarded chefs and 30 mixologists join forces for the annual event to support Share Our Strength.
Who's Involved: Whipping up signature dishes will be Rick Bayless (Frontera Grill), Kevin Hickey (Allium), Bill Kim (bellyQ), Doug Psaltis (RPM Italian), Jared Van Camp (NellcĂ´te), Ryan Poli (Tavernita), Amanda Rockman (Balena), Chris Pandel (Balena), Anthony Martin (Tru), Ryan McCaskey (Acadia), Elisa Narrow (Vie/Perennial Virant) and Matthew Kirkley (L2O). Bonus: Special awards will be presented to Bridget Albert of Southern Wine & Spirits and John Hall on behalf of Goose Island. Some of the mixologists shaking up cocktails from the open bar will be Lynn House (Blackbird), Charles Joly (The Aviary) and Tony Potempa (The Boarding House).
