A Brilliant 'Bond Brunch,' Plus More Festive Oscar-Themed Parties Set For Sunday
Les Misérables. Life of Pi. And 50 years of Bond.
With all the exciting movie themes set to play out at this year's Academy Awards ceremony, why is it that Kit Kat Lounge and Supper Club is the only spot in town cashing in on the fun?!
For the occasion on Sunday, Feb. 24, the Lakeview restaurant plans to throw a brilliant Bond Brunch that's followed by the Life of Pi Oscar Party. These bashes sound like a blast with the brunch highlighting the iconic 007 series by showing many of the films on seven HD projection screens.
There will be live performances as Diva Madam X sings some of the series most notable theme songs, including "Die Another Day" and "Skyfall." Of course there will be cocktail specials (shaken, not stirred!) and staffers will be decked out in Bond Girl and villain costumes. A $10 drink package includes mimosas, sangria and a special Octopussy cocktail. The brunch is 11am-3pm and the regular menu will be served.
If you're still standing, hang tight for Kit Kat's annual Oscar party, which starts at 5:30pm. The restaurant and lounge will be transformed into a glowing island of meerkats, and the staff will dress as zoo animals. There will be more live performances, plus half-price cocktails. Guests are encouraged to dress in black-tie attire or Life of Pi-inspired costume.
Additional parties happening around town:
Chuck's Manufacturing. Party benefiting Vital Bridges includes cocktails, Garret Popcorn and music by DJ Megan Taylor. Attire is festive cocktail and creative black tie. The $65 tickets may be purchased right here. 6pm-until.
Cru Kitchen & Bar. Several monitors will be tuned in to the glamorous show beginning at 5:30pm. Bartender Benjamin Augustine has created a number of themed cocktails for the occasion, including the Lincoln and another inspired by Beasts of the Southern Wild. Those who pick the Oscar winners will have a chance to win prizes.
Minibar. Drink specials ($9 liquor yards, $6 beer yards) will be offered during the viewing at the adjacent DS Tequila. 7-10pm.
NellcĂ´te. There's an Orange Carpet Oscars Viewing Party happening at this West Loop hot spot. Host Kelly Ryan O'Brien of the Chicago Blogger Network leads live, play-by-play tweeting. There will be Oscar-themed cocktails and those who RSVP in advance get two complimentary cocktail tickets (gotta use them 5-7pm). The kitchen will also be open for those who want dinner.
Rockit Bar & Grill. Movie critic Richard Roeper hosts yet another big bash, which will also include cocktails and hors d'oeuvres. It's $50 and a portion of the proceeds benefits After School Matters. The event starts at 6:30pm.
Tavern on Rush. Head to the first-level lounge to catch all the action on six flat screens. Tavern's also doing a specially themed cocktail that includes vodka, gin, cherry brandy, pineapple juice, orange soda and grenadine served over ice. Event starts at 6pm.
