Mexican-Themed Deli Opens Soon With Arrival Of Mercadito Counter

Mercadito Chicago just celebrated its fourth anniversary and the team behind the successful Mexican-themed restaurant is already set to open yet another spot.

Look for them to open Mercadito Counter—a Mexican-focused deli—some time this fall. That's another cool and contemporary deli to add to the list; we already love what Dillman's and Little Goat have brought to the table.

Mercadito Counter, however, pays homage to the deli counters of local corner stores in chef/partner Patricio Sandoval's native Acapulco. It'll be open all day with breakfast (think Huevos Rancheros with sunny-side up eggs, breakfast burrito and chilaquiles), to-go offerings of guacamoles, salsas, Mexican cheeses, marinated meats and more.

Similar to Dillman's and Little Goat, MC will serve booze, and you'll be able to get your fix of the famed Mercadito tacos as well as their version of the lobster dog and Mexican-style rotisserie chickens.

Those will be served in a choice of adobo (red), Peruvian-style (white) or epazote marinade (green), and come with tortillas, two sides and one salsa of choice. My mouth is watering in anticipation of its opening!
