An Ultimate Insider tells 312DD about Gilt Bar's plans for a sensational lower-level lounge, which are currently underway:

"Gilt Bar's cellar bar is almost finished. Should be open to the public mid-May. Focus on classic cocktails and modern interpretations. Very dark and intimate with 150-year-old brick, hand-tooled table made from reclaimed beams. Also, expect hand-cracked ice, big pours and opportunity for cocktail classes."

I had heard some rumbling about this possibility when the restaurant first opened in March, but now it's been confirmed. No name available yet . . .

I have eaten HALF the menu there. So very good. I highly recommend the veal meatballs, blackened cauliflower/brussels sprouts, and chicken.

Cocktails are also amazing. Get Zach to make you one! ;)
