Don't Let Holiday Hangover Knock You Out

That's right, take on the day after New Year's Eve like the strong woman (or man) that you are and keep the party going. It's Saturday night, for crying out loud.

Because it's New Year's Day, most places will be closed, but I've rounded up some gems so you can celebrate in style.

Kitsch'n on Roscoe, for instance, opens at 10am for its annual New Year's Day Hangover Brunch. The best part of the deal is that you can show up in your jammies, so there's no excuse why you shouldn't go.

If the Bayou Crab Cake Benedict, fried chicken & waffles and signature Eggs in the Basket don't get you back to normal, the deluxe Mimosas and Chipotle Bloody Marys certainly will. It's available until 4pm.

There's even more on tap for the first day of the year:

Blackbird: They're open for dinner and serving the full menu. Something tells me big sellers of the day will include the Blue Hill Bouchot mussel soup with whitefish, saffron, garlic and basil as well as slow-cooked sablefish and sweet potato brandade with shrimp-braised onions, turmeric and pickled cranberries.

Boka: Delicious dinner also awaits you at this favored Lincoln Park resto. Boka's specialty seafood dish of squid stuffed with baby spinach and spicy pineapple (and accompanied by black tapioca) may not be a traditional "hangover helper," but it certainly sounds fantastic.

Café Ba-Ba-Reeba: The seventh-annual Pajama Brunch Party starts at 10am. This thing usually sells out so make reservations now, so you can enjoy warm house-made churros, as well as breakfast tapas like French Toast with warm fruit compote, a caramelized banana waffle with maple syrup and sausage fried paella rice with poached egg. They all go well with pitchers of sangria.

English: Settle in to watch all the football action all day on 10 50- and 60-inch flatscreen TVs. There's also a $10 "burger and beer" special, which an includes Angus or turkey burger paired with any domestic bottle. Open 11am-3am.

LOKaL: The Euro-style pub offers $7 bottomless Mimosas, $9 bottomless Bloody Marys and an a la carte menu with oatmeal fondue, slow-roasted pork belly, Nutella frites and a grilled chicken croissant. Brunch is 9am-3:30pm.

Mac's American Pub: And the Ukrainian Village hot spot is doing all-day drink deals like $5 mimosas and $3.50 Bell’s Amber and Point Pale Ale drafts. Watch all the games as you chow down on brunch specialties like Mac's Breakfast Burrito, Huevos Rancheros and a mushroom and asparagus omelet. Brunch is 11am-3pm.
