Your Alternative to 'BaconFest' . . .

Missed out on getting tix to the sold-out Baconfest, happening April 12 at the UIC Forum?!

Park Grill, one of the participants in that all-day, offbeat swine scene, plans its own BACONfest as soon as the main event is over. From April 15-20, new Executive Chef Alex Shalev will rock 11 bacon-centric specials on his menu, including a cocktail, appetizers, entrees and dessert.

Check below for a menu certain to make you squeal, including the dish he'll serve at Baconfest:

Appetizers

Chicken thigh and Applewood bacon crostini of English peas and sorrel (this dish will be served at Baconfest)

Green lentil and Napa cabbage soup with sun-dried tomatoes and crispy pancetta

Baby greens in bacon vinaigrette with strawberries and bleu cheese

Potato dumplings with Chicory smoked bacon, farm egg and chives

Entrees

Bacon-wrapped pork tenderloin with cauliflower, Swiss chard and raisins

Grilled Cobia of onion-pork belly stew and watercress

Seared scallops of parsley root, spinach, cured bacon, cocoa nibs and syrup

Grilled Hanger steak with fingerling potato-bacon hash, kale and red wine

Dessert

Apple tart of black pepper caramel, bacon ice cream and basil

Soft center chocolate cake with bacon brittle and vanilla ice cream

Cocktail

Bacon Bourbon Bloody of Woodford Reserve, smoky bloody Mary mix (liquid smoke-infused spicy bloody mix); garnished with bacon-wrapped shrimp, Pepper Jack cheese, pickle, olive and lime
