While some folks continue to wait for City Hall to act on the food truck ordinance, others keep it moving . . . to other opportunities.

W Lakeshore's WAVE Executive Chef Kristine Subido—who grew up with street food carts in her homeland of the Philippines—is now bringing globally inspired grub to the streets of Streeterville in August.

Beginning August 4, the cart will be situated right outside the restaurant 5:30pm Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. It'll also offer a choice of three appetizers (from a selection of five) and a specialty cocktail for $10.

Look for Cuban cuisine in August that will include mini Cuban sandwiches with a housemade pickle, boniato and sweet plantain croquetas; yucca fries; toasted garlic mayo, guava and cheese empanadas; and tostones cured salmon, cilantro and crema.

To shake things up, guests will have a chance to guess a main ingredient or spice used in each appetizer. Each week, everyone who answers correctly will be entered into a raffle to win a voucher for $20 off dinner at WAVE.

WAVE is amazing and the cart only makes this a more obvious choice for lunch. But don't forget about dinner there.
