Get Ready For Chili & Firefighters & Chefs!

Photobucket

When I served as one of the judges for the Muscular Dysphoria Association's annual Firefighter Chili Cook-Off last year, it was so hot outside that we were sweating like we were in the tropics.

But things are back to normal, and it's so effing cold that today's the perfect day to chow down on chili.

What's awesome about this year's competition—in addition to the fact that I'll be in a room full of fine-ass firemen—is that 10 of them have teamed up with chefs from some of the hottest restaurants in town.

Michael McDonald (one sixtyblue), Justin Large (Big Star), Jared Van Camp (Old Town Social), Matt Maroni (Gastro-Wagon) and Luke Creagan (Bonsoiree) are just a few of the culinary stars attending. There will be 24 firefighter teams in total.

This is one of the best deals you will get this week, especially if you have a big appetite. For $5, you'll get a "bottomless" cup to sample all of the chili contenders; $10 gets you that "bottomless" cup with Rock Bottom brewmaster Chris Rafferty's Fire Chief Ale served in a souvenir pint glass to take home.

One hundred percent of the proceeds benefit the MDA. In addition to 312DD's participation, WCIU-TV's Art "Chat Daddy" Sims and FOX-TV's Sonja Solarte and Anna Davlantes will also serve as judges.

The 15th annual Firefighter Chili Cook-Off takes place 6-8pm tonight at Rock Bottom Brewery.
