Mensa members and math lovers celebrate National Pi Day on March 14 (3/14) because Pi is 3.14 (3.14159265358979323846).

But foodies will be celebrating in their own way with . . .

Whoopie pies. Mince meat pies. Pizza pies. Cobblers. Chicken pot pies. And good ol' American apple pies.

Some recs on where to go to chow down in style:

Brown Sugar Bakery: Expect down-home flavor and style at this South Side bakery specializing in cobblers in flavors like Apple, Pear, Peach and Sweet Potato.

Hoosier Mama Pie Co.: March 14 also happens to be Hoosier's third-year anniversary, but they're oddly not doing any deals. Some of the specials will be Coconut Cream, Pear Apple Cranberry, Coffee Cream, Chocolate Cream with Bananas, Fat Elvis and Hoosier Sugar Cream.

Magnolia Bakery: You'll find a couple of seasonal fruit pies (Apple, Blueberry), plus Black Bottom Pecan on the menu at this busy Block 37 store.

Shaw's Crab House: Apparently they're great at whipping up seafood and sweets, as demonstrated in the Key Lime, Pecan as well as Raspberry pies.
