Recently Ousted RL Bartenders Have Landed At Local Chicago To The Delight Of Their Fans

Expect the cocktails to be a whole lot better at Local Chicago now that two veteran bartenders have landed behind the stick.

Longtime RL drink makers Curt Rose and Russell Shulman were recently ousted from the Mag Mile social gathering spot (after 14 years!), and we're certain their fans will be happy to know that they're in a spot just a few blocks away.

Rose and Shulman may not be fixtures on Chicago's burgeoning mixology scene, and I seriously doubt they'd enter any of the cocktail competitions always happening around town, but these guys know how to make solid drinks. They're celebrities in their own right. Trust me on this.

I feel as though this team will have a lot more freedom to do what they want with the cocktail program. Right now, their menu updates the classics, including the St. Marks Manhattan with Buffalo Trace bourbon and Carpano Antica, Hancock Sling (hibiscus-infused gin, cherry heering, housemade grenadine) and Modern Man’s Old Fashioned with Templeton Rye and saffron sugar.

Local Chicago is owned by the same team behind Chicago Cut Steakhouse.

WHAT A HUGE LOSS TO RL. CURT WAS A HUGE DRAW. I HAVE BEEN A REGULAR FOR MORE THAN 12 YEARS AND WILL NOT GO NOW BECAUSE CURT IS GONE. CURT WAS THE MAIN DRAW AT RL FOR REGULARS. HE MADE ALWAYS MADE IT A FUN TIME. SAD.

RL DOES NOT KNOW WHAT THEY LOST. I HAVE BEEN GOING TO RL SINCE DAY ONE AND I WILL NO LONGER GO THERE BECAUSE MY FAVORITE BARTENDER RUSSELL IS NOT THERE. I WILL NOW TAKE MY BUSINESS TO THE LOCAL TO SEE BOTH RUSSELL AND CURT. GOOD LUCK TO BOTH OF YOU. I KNOW THESE GUYS WILL GO ON TO HAVE GREAT CAREERS IN THE RESTAURANT BUSINESS.
