Food Fight Erupts Over Twitter, Jake Gyllenhaal
Park Grill executive chef Bernie Laskowski excitedly tweeted that movie stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Michelle Monaghan dined at his restaurant Friday:
"Jake Gyllenhaal and Michelle Monaghan just had lunch at PG. Jake had French Onion Soup & Turkey Pastrami Club...and yes he ate the fries."
As Laskowski was basking in the glory that he got to prepare the stunning Michelle Monaghan's meal himself, restaurant critic Michael Nagrant (who writes for CS and NewCity) rained on his parade in a scathing tweet himself:
"Why doesn't anyone ever tell celebrities the good places they should be eating? I mean, The Gage is like five feet away."
Yikes.
Nevertheless, Laskowski struck back, defending his turf:
"I think the Park Grill is pretty good. Thanks. Have you been lately?"
Prompting the fearless Nagrant to retort:
"Last summer. I won't quibble that if you want to eat 1992 classics like grilled chicken Caesar, or $13 falafel, it's decent."
Twitter reviews. They can sting . . . or sing praises.
