Hold on to your seats, people.

GrubStreet reports the Beard Awards has added a Best TV Food Personality category this year.

They'll announce nominees when finalists for the other categories are unveiled March 22 (winner will then be announced at the Book & Media Awards on Sunday, May 2).

We're wondering if hometown hero Rick Bayless (Frontera Grill/Topolobampo/Xoco) will be one of the nominees.

After all, his PBS show, "Mexico: One Plate at a Time," has been on the air for six seasons, and he was named the first-ever "Top Chef Master."

We'll see what happens!

And speaking of the "Top Chef" franchise, Bravo just announced the "Top Chef: The Tour" dates.

It kicks off on April 14 in St. Louis, Mo., but they haven't released the Chicago date yet.

Booooooooo!

Seems unlikely to me - I'm guessing the "TV Personality" thing is so the Beards can ratchet up their currency with folks like Padma and Alton, who otherwise don't qualify for the culinary awards.

Seems to be a consensus!
