Well, now that I let the big ol' cat out of the bag, I might as well give you the rest of the details.

Every last Monday of the month, beginning June 27, The Gage and next-door sister restaurant Henri will throw one helluva party in The Gage's basement private dining room.

They're calling it simply Downstairs, with Executive Chef Dirk Flanigan and mixologist Clint Rogers serving up specialty bites and booze. Each party will have a different theme, and the cocktail list will only be revealed once you slip behind a curtain.

But so you won't have to wait until then, we've scored the list of drinks and dishes to be served for the first one. They're planning a basement BBQ bash with curried pork rinds and pretzel-crusted ribs. And drinks on deck include funky beers in cans (think Hamm's and Lonestar), Death's Door white whiskey Jell-O shots, and Death's Door punch served out of big orange Solo coolers.

There will also be backyard games like bags and beer pong. Umm, yes, you read that correctly.

The party starts at 9pm, immediately following the Low + Glen Hansard concert in Millennium Park. RSVP here to get in: mneff@thegagechicago.com.
